Signaling a fresh mandate and renewed commitment to public service, the 21st Sangguniang Panlungsod of General Santos City officially opened its legislative term during its Inaugural Session held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the Legislative building, this city.
City Mayor Hon. Lorelie G. Pacquiao graced the ceremony and urged stronger collaboration between the executive and the legislative branches to ensure responsive governance.
Hon. Shirlyn L. Baรฑas-Nograles, Representative of the Lone District of General Santos City delivered the keynote address, encouraging the council to pursue meaningful legislation that reflects the needs of every General.
Presiding over the session was Vice Mayor Atty. Jose Edmar J. Yumang who delivered his Inaugural speech entitled โMomentum with Meaning,โ outlining his legislative priorities.
The councilors, composed of twelve (12) elected officials and three (3) ex-officio sectoral representatives, also presented their priority legislative agenda for the term 2025-2028.
The 21st Sangguniang Panlungsod is expected to hold its first regular session next week, centering on the adoption of the Internal Rules of Procedure and the election of Committee Chairpersons and Members.
